Press Release: Computerwork.com Finds its Niche, Marks Decade of Service

Computerwork.com Marks First Decade of Matching Technical Candidates and Employers

IT job board endures cyclical hiring trends, credits personal service and industry focus for outlasting rivals

Jacksonville, FL – September 13, 2005 – Computerwork.com, a job board focusing solely on the IT industry, is celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2005, thanks to a single-minded focus on being a job board for technical candidates and employers through a decade of Internet evolution.

Launched in January 1995, Computerwork.com has expanded in the past decade to now offer a targeted resume bank of 350,000 screened and qualified candidates without accepting any third party resumes.

The company receives more than 100,000 monthly visits from IT candidates, and offers a unique candidate flow that provides an alternative to larger boards.

President and founder Jim Ingham explains that personal service and unique customer attention has enabled the board’s customer traffic to outlast most of its direct competitors, which numbered up to a dozen during the late 1990s but now is down to only three substantial players with a sole focus on the IT world.

Computerwork.com’s client roster totals around 300 companies, Ingham adds, but the smaller scale enables the company to offer unique personal touches unheard of at major job boards such as Dice and Monster. Those touches include hands-on posting of jobs for clients, resume bank search review, manual alerts to candidates when appropriate jobs are posted, and the blocking of third party recruiter submittals. Other unique touches include filters to accept only US, Canadian and/or Green card-holding candidates, and a web environment free of ads and ancillary services.

“We’re a survivor, and customer service has kept us in the ballgame,” explains Ingham. “We’ve established ourselves as an effective alternative to technology employers, offering a different flow of IT candidates than the big boards and giving our members the personal support that they need.”

“You can get lost in boards such as Dice and Monster,” he adds, “and our practice of avoiding third party recruiters is a great selling point to our clients. It’s a massive time-saver when you know you’re not going to see the same resumes again and again.”

Ingham notes that over the past 10 years, online hiring and recruiting trends have undergone a cycle where candidates are now thinking smarter and have “reclaimed” power over their resumes. A second trend, already recognized, is an exponential shift by professionals away from print employment advertising.

“It’s important to us to stick to the basics of matching employers and candidates within the same field,” Ingham says. “We’ve established a loyal following among candidates and employers by providing a clutter-free environment.”
